The following information is for British Citizens who want to apply for, or have applied for the TIE Card in Spain after Brexit under the Withdrawal Agreement.
Once you have submitted your fingerprints and application for your TIE Card in Spain you should be given a document titled Resguardo de Solicitud o Renovación de Tarjerta de Extranjero. This document should contain instructions on how to collect your TIE Card. It may take up to 45 days before your TIE is ready to be collected.
Some provinces may require you to make an appointment online to collect your TIE Card. Check your Resguardo de Solicitud o Renovación de Tarjerta de Extranjero for details.
How do I make an appointment to collect my TIE Card Spain after Brexit?
Under the tab Trámites Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, select the option Policía – Recogida de Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE):
Once you have selected this option, follow the instructions to complete the process online and book your appointment.
Once you have made your appointment, you will be sent a confirmation with a reference number and appointment details. You will have to bring this to your appointment.

- Appointment confirmation for collecting your TIE Card
- Passport
- Your Resguardo de Solicitud o Renovación de Tarjerta de Extranjero
- Your Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión (a green paper residence certificate, A4 or credit card-sized) (only if you were registered as resident in Spain before 6 July 2020 and you are exchanging it for the TIE)
