If you are a British citizen and you have obtained Spanish Residency, you can make an appointment to apply for your Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE Card) under the Withdrawal Agreement if you fall under either of these categories:

You submitted your residency application after 6 July 2020 under the new rules and your residency application has been approved (you have been granted a resolución favorable)

You registered your residency before 6 July 2020 and have legal residency in the form of the Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión (a green paper residence certificate, A4 or credit card-sized)
To apply for your TIE Card you will have to book and attend an appointment (cita previa) at a police station (Comisaría de la Policía Nacional) in the province where you live in Spain to submit your fingerprints and documents for your TIE Card.
You can book your appointment online on the public administration website.
How do I make an appointment?
Most provinces have a special option for appointments for British citizens who want to obtain their TIE Card as beneficiaries under the Withdrawal Agreement. Under the tab Trámites Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, select the option Policia-Exp. Tarjeta Asociada al Acuerdo de Retirada Ciudadanos Británicos y sus familiares (Brexit):
Once you have selected this option, follow the instructions to complete the process online and book your appointment.
Once you have made your appointment, you will be sent a confirmation with a reference number and appointment details. You will have to bring this to your appointment.
If there are no appointments available, you will see the following – keep trying until there are appointments available.
What documents do I need to submit at my appointment?
Category 1 - You applied for residency after 6 July 2020 and your application has been approved
- Appointment confirmation at the Comisaría de la Policía Nacional where you booked your appointment
- EX 23 Application Form
- Tax payment form for processing the TIE and confirmation of payment – Tasa modelo 790 Código 012
- Passport (original and copy)
- Passport sized photo
- Empadronamiento
- Your resolución or residency application approval
Category 2 - You applied for residency before 6 July 2020 and have your green residence certificate
- Appointment confirmation at the Comisaría de la Policía Nacional where you booked your appointment
- EX 23 Application Form
- Tax payment form for processing the TIE and confirmation of payment – Tasa modelo 790 Código 012
- Passport (original and copy)
- Passport sized photo
- Empadronamiento (if you have changed your address since your last residency application)
- Your Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión
